The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar

The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar

-------------------------------------------

S is for Saturday Brunch. With a contemporary vibe, there is Honeymoon. A new cozy spot located in the middle of the concrete jungle of Downtown Houston.

As soon as we walked in, we definitely loved its long bar and its spacious venue with tables spread out everywhere which gave us a laid back vibe. Perfect for a quiet lunch. At the time we got there, this place had a few tables taken and other guests enjoying their coffee/drinks at the bar. In other words, it was not packed at all, but it was exactly what we were looking for a Saturday Brunch.

For brunch they offer fast casual service. We ordered our food at the counter, and then they brought it to our table. The cashier was amicable and explained the menu in a friendly way, he knew what he was talking about. Beside the cashier, the service was nice, but not on top of things.

We loved the concept Honeymoon brought to Downtown Houston. Downtown needs more places like this one. We will definetely go back to Honeymoon, but next time to enjoy its drinks at the bar.

If you are around the area and you are looking for a place to have lunch, snack, dinner or only a cup of coffee while you finish some work, we totally recommend you to stop by The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar, but keep in mind that parking is pretty hard, like most of the places in Downtown area

Yogurt & Granola

greek yogurt, housemade coconut-pecan granola, berries and peaches

-------------------------------------------

If you are around the area and looking for a snack or for something light, we recommend you to order the Yogurt and granola at Honeymoon.

The bowl had the perfect size to fulfill a tummy; not too much of granola, not too much of yogurt, it was just perfect.

The fruits were fresh and the sweetness of the granola with the acidity of the yogurt was impeccable.

Salmon

smoked salmon, poached eggs latkes, tarragon aioli

-------------------------------------------

Poached eggs are A-Must when we see it on a  brunch menu. Unfortunately, there was nothing particularly or interesting about this ones. Let us tell you this. The dish was eatable, but we would not reorder the salmon on our future visits.

First of all, there was too much tarragon aioli as you can see in the picture. We had to removed at least half of it, so we could enjoy the salmon and the eggs. Then when we were ready to taste the salmon with the eggs and the delicious tarragon aioli, the eggs were room temperature, and the salmon was over salted.

Even though the experience with the salmon was not the best one, we would love to go back and try other items from their brunch or lunch menu.
