Fat Bao

Fat Bao

-------------------------------------------

With a unique concept, this place located in Upper Kirby offers to its guests the Asian flavors in a steamed bun.

It was counter service. Once we walked in, we got in line to place our order, paid, sat, and the food was brought to our table.  The employees provided a great customer service. They were attentive, fast and hospitable.

Fat Bao gave us a positive and happy sensation. However, when we opened the door of this casual place, we notice its open kitchen and its high tables with stools that are not very confortable if you are thinking about hanging out here for a long period. Fortunately, they also have a few regular tables, but literally a few. Great background music, even though it was a little bit too loud for the space of this place.

If baos call your attention, or if you have not tried them before, let us tell you that this gem is a must stop. We will definitely come back.

New Yorker Bao

seared salmon, avocado, green onions, cream sauce

-------------------------------------------

This one is one of the most popular at Fat Bao. It was very light and refreshing.

The freshness of the avocado and the salmon was beyond perfect, but it had too much cream sauce which was too heavy for the salmon and avocado.

In general, it was tasteful and it was great to tried it out, but next time we will go for a different selection.

Crab Daddy Bao

soft shell crab, asian slaw, spicy mayo

-------------------------------------------

This one was our number one!

It was lightly breaded and fried. It was very tasteful and enjoyable that at the end we ordered 3 of them.

Highly recommended!

Memphis Bao

braised pork belly, pickled cucumbers, green onion, hoisin sauce

-------------------------------------------

The counter recommended this bao, and we would like to thank him for it.

The pork was tender cooked to perfection. However, this bao in general was not full of flavors.

Banana Nutella Bao

bananas & nutella in lightly fried bao

-------------------------------------------

We did not imagine how good a bao could taste with nutella.

When we saw it, we though this bao could be too sweet because its fillining was pretty generous, but not at all, this bao was exactly the last touch we needed from Fat Bao.

We entirely enjoyed it.
